"Iconic stories, innovative dance."

Jonathan Riedel teaches modern dance, movement for actors, and stage performance techniques.  He teaches professionals and students; adults and children; and also conducts special workshops for the hadicapped and learning disabled. He views dance as a complete performing artform...athletic, expressive, visual, and musical.  The principals he teaches support and enhance all styles of movement from classical ballet to contemporary dance to stage combat to clowning.

Jonathan has taught internationally and all over the U.S. at such venerable institutions as the Limon Institute, HB Studio, Laban (England,) Il Balletto di Puglia (Italy,) the Juilliard School, Purchase College, Brown University, Washington State University, The Yard, NYSSSA, and La Guardia High School. A current class schedule can be found at the bottom of this page.

He is also an experienced director and performance coach.  He focuses particularly on the marriage of theatricality and movement.  He works with dancers, actors, singers, martial artists, and animators to find greater dynamics, vulnerability, projection, and clarity of intention within their work.  He can be contracted for private or group sessions in either class or rehearsal settings.

Mr. Riedel is presently collaborating in a program developed by Carolyn Adams to create and impliment a dance curriculum for school children with autism through the AHRC.
